Volunteer Services

Texoma Community Center appreciates each and every volunteer in every capacity that they work. Volunteers truly make a difference!

Below are some examples of things you can participate in if you are interested. Please feel free to contact Volunteer Services if you are interested in something that is not listed.

Volunteering Examples
  • Individuals willing to assist with fundraising
  • Group volunteers for agency projects: Assist in areas such as gardening, painting, and working TCC events
  • Photographers: Photographing TCC events.
  • Grant Writers
  • Tutors
  • Material Designer: Designing promotional items such as T-shirts and flyers
  • University Intern Students: See our page dedicated to Interns/Practicum Students
  • Work Force Volunteers: We look for Front Office/Clerical, Yard or Maintenance, Greeters, Housekeeping, etc
  • Planning and Network Advisory Committee (PNAC) Member: This has a separate application process. PNAC members provide feedback on TCC client services and consists of clients, family members of clients, and community members. The PNAC makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
  • Board of Trustees: Trustees are appointed by the Cities of Bonham, Denison, Gainesville, and Sherman and through the Counties of Cooke, Fannin, and Grayson. These are two-year appointments.

  • How To Volunteer
    The volunteer process goes as follows:
    1. Complete the Volunteer Services application
    2. Your application will be processed, and you will then be notified if your background cleared
    3. A volunteer interview will be scheduled, and placement will be determined
    4. Training, if any, will be coordinated with our Training Department

    Internships/Practicum Students

    Texoma Community Center is proud to partner with the institutions of higher education to provide internship opportunities for the ​students ​wishing to obtain experience in the health care industry, specifically those seeking experience with a Community Center or one of our programs.

    Internship Guidelines

    In keeping with our mission to deliver accessible and responsive support services to individuals and families coping with mental illness, substance use, developmental delays, and emotional conflict, we are asking that you be aware of the following TCC Internship Guidelines:

    1. The number of positions available will be based on supervisor availability, both with regard to the number of interns as well as the time constraints on the supervisor’s position.
    2. The Center reserves the right to request interviews and determine the appropriate match. the Center may refuse intern candidates or recommend another placement if available.
    3. Due to Center rules and regulations, interns will not be assigned individual caseloads. Interns will be working under the supervision of an TCC employee to assist with case management and other treatment/intervention activities.
    4. The Center reserves the right to terminate an internship at any time during assignment.
    5. TCC does not discriminate in any of the services or practices in which it provides. All intern candidates will be subject to mandatory background checks prior to placement. Costs for TB tests, drug screens, and if applicable, fingerprints will be the responsibility of the applicant. Prices will be provided to you.
